Request For Proposals Main Page
The New Mexico Higher Education Department (NMHED), Adult Basic Education Division, announces a Request for Proposals (RFP) to receive a grant to support the operation of Adult Basic Education and English as a Second Language Programs in each of four regions in New Mexico under grant funding from the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Vocational and Adult Education, and funding appropriated through the New Mexico Legislature. Grants will be awarded for fiscal year 2012-2013, beginning on July 1, 2012, and ending on June 30, 2013. Grants may be extended for up to three years, depending upon availability of funding and performance of programs applying for grant extensions.
The goal of Adult Education programs in New Mexico is to support and encourage activities that:
- Assist adults in becoming literate;
- Assist adults in obtaining knowledge and skills necessary for employment and
- self-sufficiency;
- Assist adults in obtaining knowledge and skills necessary for entering and being successful in postsecondary training or education;
- Assist adults in obtaining the educational skills necessary to become full partners
- in their children’s education; and
- Assist adults in completing their secondary school education.
