SAT/ACT Testing and Admission Changes Due to COVID: First-year students admitted based on high school GPA OR SAT/ACT scores. During COVID, first year students admitted on GPA alone. NMSU did require SAT/ACT for merit-based scholarships but COVID has changed merit-based scholarship criteria to GPA only for incoming first-year students (fall 2020). Requires GPA OR SAT/ACT scores for admission. NMSU will be awarding merit-based scholarships based on GPA alone and will continue the practice of online Math and English assessments for course placement if needed for fall 2021 incoming students.
