Higher Education Academic Program Review

Proposed new undergraduate and graduate programs will be considered by the NMHEAC, which is a committee that consists of the cabinet secretaries of higher education, department of workforce solutions, department of finance and administration, department of economic development, and the director of the legislative finance committee or their designees. The committee will also include four chief academic officers, one representing each higher education sector in the state.

The NMHEAC will meet four times a year at the HED office in Santa Fe:

*Due the COVID-19 crisis the meeting scheduled for May 1, 2020 and its submission deadline of April 3, 2020 has been postponed and rescheduled to a meeting date of June 5, 2020 and a submission date of May 1, 2020.

Committee meetings will begin at 10 AM and continue until the business on the agenda is complete. When making a request to add a new program, a completed application must be submitted to the Survey Monkey Application platform on or before the submission date listed above.
